West Midland’s League

Saturday July 3rd saw a great night at the Staffs League top gala. Despite not scoring points on 3 events due to having to swim overage swimmers we finished a fantastic 4th place. There were some brilliant swims tonight with lots of PB’s. Our Open and 15/under relay teams were dominant remaining unbeaten all night. Ben Roberts was back in form winning the 50 fly and 2nd in the 50 back. There were also wins for Jess Banks, Kane Murcott, Bradley Gordon, Billy Robinson and Brian Steatham. Swimmer of the night has to be Ava Griffiths and although she is so small she struggled to climb on the blocks she held more than her own swimming Pb after Pb. Final event of the night was the girls cannon started off by Ava with a great swim. The relay finished 4th with a time 21 seconds faster than they swam in the last round.
Big thank you to the coaching team getting swimmers to where they needed to be and on time for races. Thank you again to our supporters on the balcony who were in fine voice yet again.
Well done swimmers, another great night with a great group of young people.
