8 Masters from WSC headed up to Stafford on Saturday to compete in the Staffordshire County Championships. (Justine, Diane, Rob, Simon, Ian H, Lionel, Ian D and Adrian). A full day of events saw some fantastic swims from all the team with lots of PB’s, medals, Staffs Championship Titles and even some Masters records broken. There was great team spirit and support on poolside, all watching and cheering each other on. Some of the team surprising themselves with their great times, especially as it was the first time they have competed in ‘many’ years! Both the morning and afternoon sessions were finished off with a very exciting men’s relay team (Ian H, Rob, Simon & Lionel). The boys all swam fantastic, bringing back the Gold medal in both the medley and freestyle events.
It was a very successful day with a fantastic tally of medals, Championship Titles and Staffs records broken :
13 Gold, 7 Silver, 8 Bronze, 21 Staffordshire Championship Titles, 4 Staffordshire Records broken.

Big thanks to Tim for attending as team manager and showing his support.
Great results for WSC in the county Championship aggregate trophies. These are calculated on the number of points scored. SENIOR LADIES CHAMPIONS, runners up in the Men’s senior championship and runners up in the Ladies age group championship. We were also the runners up in the most improved club. We won this last year and it is based on how many points you improved from last year so 2nd is quite an achievement and one of only 4 clubs who gain more points than last year. Overall we scored more points than any other club at the championships. Well done swimmers you should be very proud of yourselves.
Well what a fantastic first weekend at Staffs County Championships. I am not going to go through every winner as this post would be more like war and peace. We have been very well represented in both the championship and age group finals with as many as four Wolverhampton swimmers in some of the Championship finals have won numerous medals and to give you an example Matt has won 16 medals to date. In total by my reckoning with both Senior and Junior Championship titles we have won at least 12 trophies in this first weekend not to mention 2nd and 3rd place podium spots. There have been numerous personal best times and lots of regional championship qualification times achieved.
The Swimmers have done Wolverhampton Swimming Club very proud and as Head Coach I feel extremely proud to be part of it. All the hard work is paying off. Big thank you to Tim and Corrina who have worked tirelessly this weekend and to all the parents for showing your support. Well done everyone! Adam
